Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and protect their margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven purely by trader supply and demand. Prediction markets typically incorporate real-time information more efficiently, especially as events unfold, since traders profit directly from accurate forecasting. For this market, comparing the current prediction market price to major sportsbook lines can reveal whether bettors expect an outcome that oddsmakers have mispriced or overlooked.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into real-time probabilities. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the ratio of capital allocated to it relative to the total pool. As traders buy shares in one outcome, its price rises and the competing outcome's price falls, creating a dynamic equilibrium. This mechanism ensures continuous pricing and deep liquidity, allowing you to enter or exit positions without waiting for a counterparty.

This market resolves around Aug 2, 2026, once the second half result of the match is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals in the second half only, independent of the first-half score or final result. Resolution occurs after the match concludes and official sources confirm the second-half winner. Until that point, this market remains open for trading, and prices may shift based on team news, injury reports, or live-game developments.

Several factors can shift prices in this market before resolution. Team news—such as injuries to key players, lineup changes, or tactical adjustments—often triggers significant moves. Pre-match analysis and expert commentary can sway trader sentiment, as can historical head-to-head performance and recent form. Once the match begins, first-half events like early goals, red cards, or momentum swings typically drive substantial repricing. Weather conditions, crowd dynamics, and in-game substitutions also influence trader expectations about second-half performance, making this market highly responsive to unfolding information.
