Often, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically set odds to maximize profit, factoring in a margin for themselves and public perception. This market, however, is driven by the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. As a result, the odds here may differ from those found at sportsbooks, potentially offering a more accurate forecast based on diverse perspectives and analysis of available data.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price fluctuates based on supply and demand, meaning that if more traders believe Alcala Gurri will win, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date collective assessment.
