Philadelphia winning by more than 2.5 runs or more than 1.5 runs in the first five innings each resolve to Yes for their respective markets. If the game is postponed or delayed, the market remains open and closes after the rescheduled game concludes within two days.
Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they serve different purposes and audiences. Sportsbooks set odds to balance liability and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven by trader consensus on actual probability. Prediction markets typically reflect sharper, more granular assessments of niche outcomes—such as first 5 innings performance—because traders with strong conviction can accumulate positions. Comparing the two can reveal where public or professional opinion diverges on early-game dynamics.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through continuous order-book trading, where buyers and sellers submit bids and offers in real time. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current odds reflect the last executed trade and the standing orders on both sides. Traders who believe Pittsburgh will exceed a 2.5-run margin in the first 5 innings buy YES contracts, while those betting against that outcome buy NO. Price discovery happens organically as new information—injury reports, weather, lineup changes—enters the market and traders adjust their positions accordingly.
This market resolves around Jun 30, 2026, once the game concludes and the first 5 innings are complete. The outcome is determined by comparing Pittsburgh's run total to Philadelphia's run total over that span. If Pittsburgh's margin exceeds 2.5 runs, YES contracts pay out; otherwise, NO contracts win. Resolution is verified against credible public sources such as official league records and sports data providers to ensure accuracy and finality.
Several catalysts can shift odds in this market before game time and during the first 5 innings. Injury announcements—especially to starting pitchers or key hitters—often trigger sharp moves. Weather updates, bullpen availability, and lineup confirmations also influence early-game expectations. Once play begins, runs scored, baserunning mistakes, and pitching changes will drive real-time repricing. Late-breaking news on player health or umpire assignments can spike volatility. Traders monitor all these signals to adjust their conviction on Pittsburgh's ability to build a decisive early lead.
