Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, aiming to profit regardless of the outcome. This market, however, is driven purely by trader beliefs, theoretically providing a more accurate reflection of true probabilities. While sportsbooks may initially set lines based on public perception and expert analysis, this market dynamically adjusts as new information emerges and traders react to it. Discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions, information access, or risk appetites.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, meaning traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, these prices fluctuate, providing a real-time assessment of expectations. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market depth—the number of buy and sell orders at different price points—indicates the strength of conviction behind those probabilities. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures the market reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd.
This market resolves around Sep 9, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the winner of the World Series is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result declared by Major League Baseball. Traders holding a contract for the winning team will receive a payout, while those holding contracts for the losing team will forfeit their investment. The platform will verify the outcome against established sources to ensure accuracy and transparency, providing a clear and definitive resolution for all participants.
Numerous factors could influence this market leading up to the World Series conclusion. Key player injuries on either team would likely cause significant shifts in probabilities. Unexpected performance from starting pitchers or impactful offensive displays during games could also move the market. News regarding team morale, coaching decisions, or even weather forecasts impacting game schedules could all contribute to price fluctuations. Furthermore, any major upsets or surprising results in earlier rounds of the playoffs could reshape expectations and influence trading activity in this market.
