Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they operate under different incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets are driven by trader consensus and real-money risk. This market may price outcomes differently than traditional sportsbooks because participants are directly wagering on their beliefs rather than betting against a fixed house margin. Comparing this market's odds to major sportsbooks can reveal where traders see value or where public sentiment differs from professional oddsmakers.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into real-time odds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome has a price between 0 and 1 (or 0–100 cents), reflecting the collective probability estimate of all active traders. As more capital flows into a particular outcome, its price rises; conversely, selling pressure lowers it. This continuous repricing mechanism ensures the market remains liquid and responsive to new information or shifting expectations about the second half result.

This market resolves around Aug 1, 2026, once the Philadelphia Union versus Atlanta United FC match concludes and the second-half result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by the official final score and events that occur only in the second half, independent of the first-half scoreline. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the match ending, once the result is confirmed and recorded by the relevant sports authorities. Traders should monitor official team announcements and sports news sources to stay informed as the resolution deadline approaches.

Several factors can shift odds in this market before resolution. Team news—such as injuries, lineup changes, or tactical announcements—often triggers repricing as traders adjust their probability estimates. Recent form, head-to-head history, and home-field advantage can also influence sentiment. Betting action from sharp traders or large position changes may signal new information or conviction. As match day approaches, real-time developments during the first half, such as early goals or red cards, will likely drive significant price movement. Public commentary from analysts and social media momentum can amplify these shifts as well.
