Description

This market will resolve according to how much "PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie" Opening Weekend Box Office will gross domestically on its opening weekend. The "Daily Box Office Performance" figures found on the “Box Office” tab on this movie's The Numbers (https://www.the-numbers.com/) page will be used to resolve this market once the values for the 3-day opening weekend (August 14 - August 16) are final (i.e., not studio estimates). If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. Please note, this market will resolve according to the The Numbers figures provided under Weekend Box Office Performance for the 3-day weekend (which typically includes Thursday's previews), regardless of whether domestic refers to only the USA, or to USA and Canada, etc. If there is ambiguity as to whether the resolution source's figures are final, this market will remain open until both https://www.boxofficemojo.com/ and https://www.the-numbers.com/ have confirmed their finalized figures. If there is no final data available by August 23, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, another credible resolution source will be chosen.

Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the PAW Patrol Dino Movie box office market dashboard displays real-time odds on whether the film's opening weekend domestic box office will reach at least $30 million. The interface shows the current price of each outcome, historical price movement, and trading volume. Traders buy and sell shares corresponding to their belief about the film's opening performance, and the market price reflects the collective forecast of participants. This live pricing mechanism allows you to monitor how sentiment shifts as release approaches and new information emerges about audience interest and industry expectations.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst estimates because they incorporate real-money incentives and crowd wisdom. While box office analysts rely on historical comps, trailer performance, and studio marketing spend, this market aggregates the views of traders who profit only if their forecast proves correct. Analysts may issue conservative or optimistic projections based on methodology, whereas market participants continuously update their positions as new data arrives. Comparing the implied probability on this market to published forecasts from industry analysts can reveal where consensus differs and highlight potential surprises in opening weekend performance.

On Polymarket, traders set the odds by buying and selling outcome shares in a continuous order-book system. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share represents a claim on $1 if that outcome occurs, so the current price of a share directly reflects the market's implied probability. When traders believe the film will exceed $30 million, they buy shares at the current ask price, pushing the price higher. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. This mechanism ensures the market price stays aligned with real-time sentiment and new information, making it a dynamic gauge of opening weekend expectations.

This market resolves around Aug 16, 2026, once the opening weekend box office result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome hinges on whether the film's domestic box office gross during its opening weekend reaches the $30 million threshold. Once the weekend concludes and official figures are published by industry tracking services, the market settles based on the confirmed data. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless.

Several catalysts can shift odds before resolution. Trailer releases, social media buzz, and critic reviews will influence trader sentiment about audience appeal. Competitor releases or delays affecting the theatrical landscape may redirect family audiences. Box office tracking reports in the week leading up to opening weekend provide crucial signals about pre-sales and early demand. Celebrity appearances, marketing campaigns, and franchise momentum all factor into expectations. Additionally, broader entertainment trends—such as animated film performance or children's content reception—can sway the market. Real-time adjustments reflect how traders weigh each new piece of information against their baseline forecast.
