Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance betting action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to express their independent beliefs about the likely outcome. If prediction market participants have access to information not yet reflected in sportsbook lines, we might see discrepancies. It's common to observe that as an event approaches, the odds on Polymarket converge with those offered by sportsbooks, though differences can persist due to varying levels of liquidity and information.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Pashchenko vs. Rzhevska match. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a growing consensus. Conversely, selling pressure drives prices down. The market's efficiency depends on active participation and the availability of relevant information to traders.
