Prediction markets like Polymarket and Limitless operate on a different mechanism than traditional sportsbooks. Rather than a bookmaker setting odds and taking a margin, traders on prediction platforms directly buy and sell shares tied to outcomes, with prices reflecting real-time supply and demand. This often results in tighter spreads and prices that move quickly in response to new information. Sportsbooks, by contrast, employ oddsmakers and manage liability across many bets. Prediction market prices tend to be more efficient at incorporating breaking news, but sportsbook odds may offer better promotional terms or easier access for casual bettors.
