PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Kalshi's binary Yes/Yes structure is logically contradictory and unresolvable as a prediction market. Polymarket provides coherent team-based resolution with explicit forfeit handling that Kalshi lacks entirely.Hero tip: Disregard Kalshi markets for trading purposes. Polymarket's game-level granularity and forfeit rules are the only reliable settlement framework. Monitor Liquipedia for match status, completion, and any forfeit/disqualification events. If match does not begin or is canceled within 7 days, expect 50-50 resolution on Polymarket only.

Critical divergence points:

  • Kalshi: Binary structure with logical contradiction. Both 'Please Not Hero Ban wins' and 'VARREL wins' resolve to Yes. No differentiation between match completion, forfeit, or cancellation. Quote: 'If Please Not Hero Ban wins... then the market resolves to Yes. If VARREL wins... then the market resolves to Yes.'
  • Polymarket: Team-based resolution (VARREL or Please Not Hero Ban) with explicit forfeit/walkover handling. Resolves 50-50 if match canceled, delayed >7 days without play, or ends in forfeit. Quote: 'If the match ends in a forfeit, disqualification, or walkover (team withdraws before the start and the other wins automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50.'
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Polymarket

This market will resolve to "VARREL" if VARREL win the match against Please Not Hero Ban. This market will resolve to "Please Not Hero Ban" if Please Not Hero Ban win the match against VARREL. If the match is canceled (not played at all), ends in a tie, or is delayed beyond 7 days from the scheduled date without a winner determined, this market will resolve to 50-50. If the match begins but is not completed, and one team wins due to the opponent's forfeiture, disqualification, or walkover, this market will resolve to the team who wins. If the match ends in a forfeit, disqualification, or walkover (team withdraws before the start and the other wins automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50. The resolution source for this market will be official information from https://liquipedia.net/overwatch/Main_Page. However, if https://liquipedia.net/overwatch/Main_Page has not published final results within 2 hours after the event’s conclusion, a consensus of credible reporting may be used instead including video evidence. In cases where a team’s listed name includes minor discrepancies from the resolution source, this market will resolve based on the underlying real-world match rather than exact name matching. Recognizable abbreviations, alternate or erroneous spellings, sponsor tags, affiliate or academy designations, regional identifiers, and minor formatting differences will be treated as referring to the same team, provided the intended team can be clearly and uniquely identified within the relevant competition. If a listed team name has no reasonable connection to any participating team, or if it matches or could reasonably refer to another team in the same competition such that the intended team cannot be unambiguously determined, this market will resolve 50-50.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets and traditional sportsbooks price outcomes differently. Sportsbooks set odds to balance liability and extract margin, while prediction markets rely on trader consensus to discover prices. This market reflects pure supply and demand from participants betting real capital, often without the built-in vig of a sportsbook. Prediction market prices can move faster in response to new information, team roster changes, or recent performance data. For esports events like this one, prediction markets may offer tighter spreads and more granular price discovery than mainstream sportsbooks, especially for regional competitions.

Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and risk tolerances, leading to natural price variation. Polymarket and Kalshi also operate under distinct market rules, fee structures, and user interfaces, which can influence how quickly information is priced in. Lower liquidity on one platform may allow larger trades to move the price more dramatically. Arbitrage opportunities sometimes emerge when one platform lags in reflecting breaking news about team performance or roster updates, though active traders typically narrow these gaps quickly.

Key catalysts include roster announcements, player injuries, or last-minute substitutions that shift team strength perception. Recent tournament results and head-to-head records between these teams will influence trader confidence. Patch updates or meta shifts in the game itself can favor one team's playstyle over the other. Media coverage, expert analysis, and community sentiment on social platforms often precede price moves. Betting volume spikes typically occur closer to match day as casual traders enter the market, potentially amplifying volatility in final hours before play begins.
