PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Kalshi lacks explicit forfeit/walkover handling and treats any match outcome as a Yes resolution, while Polymarket explicitly resolves forfeit/walkover/disqualification scenarios to 50-50 (pre-match) or to the winning team (mid-match). This creates conflicting settlement outcomes if the match does not complete under normal play.Hero tip: Traders should assume Kalshi will resolve Yes to whichever team is declared winner in any scenario (including forfeit), while Polymarket Match Winner market will resolve 50-50 only if forfeit occurs before play begins. The Games Total and individual Game Winner markets on Polymarket have clearer forfeit logic: forfeits mid-series count toward game total if match is completed; pre-match cancellation or 7+ day delay resolves 50-50. Hedge accordingly if match status is uncertain.

Critical divergence points:

  • Kalshi: Kalshi presents two binary outcomes: 'If Twisted Minds wins the match, resolve Yes' and 'If Geekay Esports wins the match, resolve Yes.' No explicit handling of forfeit, disqualification, walkover, or cancellation. Implies any declared match winner triggers Yes resolution.
  • Polymarket: Polymarket Match Winner explicitly states: 'If the match ends in a forfeit, disqualification, or walkover (team withdraws before the start and the other wins automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50.' Mid-match forfeit/disqualification resolves to the winning team. Cancellation, tie, or 7+ day delay without winner resolves 50-50.
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Polymarket

This market refers to the Overwatch match between Twisted Minds and Geekay Esports in the OCS EMEA Stage 2 Group Stage, initially scheduled for June 27 at 4:00PM ET. This market will resolve to "Twisted Minds" if Twisted Minds win the match against Geekay Esports. This market will resolve to "Geekay Esports" if Geekay Esports win the match against Twisted Minds. If the match is canceled (not played at all), ends in a tie, or is delayed beyond 7 days from the scheduled date without a winner determined, this market will resolve to 50-50. If the match begins but is not completed, and one team wins due to the opponent's forfeiture, disqualification, or walkover, this market will resolve to the team who wins. If the match ends in a forfeit, disqualification, or walkover (team withdraws before the start and the other wins automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50. The resolution source for this market will be official information from https://liquipedia.net/overwatch/Main_Page. However, if https://liquipedia.net/overwatch/Main_Page has not published final results within 2 hours after the event’s conclusion, a consensus of credible reporting may be used instead including video evidence. In cases where a team’s listed name includes minor discrepancies from the resolution source, this market will resolve based on the underlying real-world match rather than exact name matching. Recognizable abbreviations, alternate or erroneous spellings, sponsor tags, affiliate or academy designations, regional identifiers, and minor formatting differences will be treated as referring to the same team, provided the intended team can be clearly and uniquely identified within the relevant competition. If a listed team name has no reasonable connection to any participating team, or if it matches or could reasonably refer to another team in the same competition such that the intended team cannot be unambiguously determined, this market will resolve 50-50.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets like those tracked here operate on crowd-sourced pricing rather than traditional sportsbook models. Instead of fixed odds set by oddsmakers, traders continuously buy and sell shares, allowing prices to reflect real-time belief about the outcome. This often produces sharper, more responsive odds than static sportsbook lines, especially for niche esports events where traditional bookmakers may have limited liquidity. Comparing this market's consensus to any available sportsbook odds reveals whether the crowd sees value the books have missed.

Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform operates with distinct user bases, contract structures, and liquidity pools, which naturally produces pricing variations. Polymarket and Kalshi may also differ in how they frame the outcome—for instance, one might focus on the overall series winner while another tracks individual game results. Arbitrage opportunities and timing lags between platforms can widen spreads temporarily, making it worthwhile to compare both before committing capital to either side of this market.

Key catalysts include roster announcements, player injuries or substitutions, recent tournament results, and head-to-head performance trends. Patch updates to Overwatch itself can shift meta dynamics and team strengths, often triggering sharp repricing. Media coverage, expert analysis, and betting activity on related markets may also influence trader confidence. Watch for any official statements from either organization, coaching changes, or scrim results that hint at team form closer to the match date.
