PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Kalshi's market is based on the 2026 World Cup winner, while Polymarket focuses on the actual Overwatch match outcome.Hero tip: Trade Polymarket markets for direct exposure to the France vs. Australia match. Ignore Kalshi's market as it's unrelated.

Critical divergence points:

  • Polymarket: Resolves based on the outcome of the France vs. Australia Overwatch match, with specific rules for incomplete games, cancellations, and postponements. Resolution source is Liquipedia.net.
  • Kalshi: Resolves to 'Yes' if either France or Australia wins the 2026 World Cup, regardless of the Overwatch match result. "If Australia wins the World Cup 2026: Australia vs. France Overwatch match originally scheduled for Sep 12, 2026, then the market resolves to Yes."
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Polymarket

This market refers to the Overwatch Quarterfinal 4 match between France and Australia in the World Cup Playoffs, initially scheduled for September 12, 2026 at 6:00 PM ET. This market will resolve to "France" if France win the match against Australia. This market will resolve to "Australia" if Australia win the match against France. If the match is canceled (not played at all) or ends in a tie, this market will resolve to 50-50. If the match is postponed, it must be rescheduled to a start time on or before September 26, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET (14 calendar days after the originally scheduled start of September 12, 2026 at 6:00 PM ET). If, by that deadline, the most recently announced rescheduled start time is on or before the deadline, this market resolves based on the result of the match as played. Otherwise, this market resolves 50-50, regardless of whether the match is subsequently played. If the match begins but is not completed, and one team wins due to the opponent's forfeiture, disqualification, or walkover, this market will resolve to the team who wins. If the match ends in a forfeit, disqualification, or walkover (team withdraws before the start and the other wins automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50. The resolution source for this market will be official information from https://liquipedia.net/overwatch/Main_Page. However, if https://liquipedia.net/overwatch/Main_Page has not published final results within 2 hours after the event’s conclusion, a consensus of credible reporting may be used instead including video evidence. In cases where a team’s listed name includes minor discrepancies from the resolution source, this market will resolve based on the underlying real-world match rather than exact name matching. Recognizable abbreviations, alternate or erroneous spellings, sponsor tags, affiliate or academy designations, regional identifiers, and minor formatting differences will be treated as referring to the same team, provided the intended team can be clearly and uniquely identified within the relevant competition. If a listed team name has no reasonable connection to any participating team, or if it matches or could reasonably refer to another team in the same competition such that the intended team cannot be unambiguously determined, this market will resolve 50-50.

Kalshi

The market resolves to Yes for the respective team—Australia or France—if that team wins the specified Overwatch match originally scheduled for September 12, 2026, as part of the World Cup 2026. If the match is postponed beyond 48 hours of its scheduled start time, cancelled before play begins, or forfeited prior to any gameplay, the market resolves to the fair market price. Should the match commence and later be forfeited, the result will be determined by the official outcome declared by the governing body or tournament organizer. This structure ensures that the market accurately reflects both the competitive result of the match and proper handling of any disruptions to the scheduled event.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often reflect a more accurate collective forecast than traditional sportsbooks. This is because prediction markets incentivize participants to reveal their true beliefs, while sportsbooks may incorporate a profit margin or be influenced by public perception. While sportsbooks set odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, this market benefits from the wisdom of the crowd. Discrepancies can arise due to differing levels of information access and varying incentives between the two types of betting venues.

Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge due to several factors. Each platform has its own user base, trading rules, and liquidity levels, all of which can influence price discovery. Differences in trading fees and the types of traders participating on each platform also contribute to price discrepancies. Furthermore, the 24-hour volume on each platform – $5,042 – can impact how quickly prices react to new information. These variations are normal and reflect the independent price discovery processes occurring on each venue.

Several signals could significantly impact this market before resolution. Any news regarding player injuries, team strategies, or changes in the competitive landscape could shift the odds. Major announcements from the Overwatch League or the teams themselves could also influence trading activity. Unexpected performance in other qualifying matches or shifts in public sentiment could also contribute to price movements. The 24-hour volume of $5,042 will indicate how quickly the market reacts to these events, so traders should closely monitor these factors.
