This event group tracks whether specific actors will receive Best Actor nominations at the 99th Academy Awards (ceremony on March 14, 2027, nominations announced January 21, 2027). Both platforms offer individual binary markets on the same 18-24 nominated actors, with resolution tied to official AMPAS nomination announcements.
The Academy Awards are presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to honor outstanding artistic and technical achievements in film. For the 99th Academy Awards in 2027, nominations are scheduled to be announced on January 21, followed by the ceremony on March 14, 2027. This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed actor is nominated for the 99th Academy Award for Best Actor. If an actor is not officially nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor when the 2027 nominees are announced, the corresponding market will immediately resolve to "No". If, for any reason, no nominations are declared by March 14, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Academy Awards and AMPAS, including data from their website (e.g., https://www.oscars.org/) and the live broadcast of the award ceremony; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
An actor receives a Yes resolution if he is nominated for Best Actor at the 99th Academy Awards. The nomination announcement is expected in January 2027. Each actor listed represents a separate market outcome, and any actor who receives an official Best Actor nomination will resolve to Yes.
Prediction market odds often offer a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. Analysts frequently rely on subjective opinions and media narratives, while this market reflects real money being put behind predictions. The aggregated trading activity provides a quantifiable measure of belief, potentially identifying overlooked candidates or adjusting for biases present in conventional analysis. While analyst predictions can be valuable, the dynamic pricing in this market can offer a more responsive and potentially accurate gauge of nomination probabilities as new information emerges. The current volume of $441,143 suggests significant trader interest.
Prices for the Oscars Best Actor market can vary between Polymarket and Kalshi due to several factors. Furthermore, the specific market structures and fee schedules on each platform can influence trading behavior. Differences in the timing of information flow and the availability of news can also contribute to price discrepancies. Currently, these platforms show differing probabilities for potential nominees, which is reflected in their respective prices.
