Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the first goal scorer market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for which team will score first in the Orlando Pride versus Boston Legacy FC match. The interface displays the current price for each outcome, historical price movements, and trading volume as participants buy and sell shares. Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different pricing mechanisms and participant bases. Sportsbooks set odds to balance liability and extract a margin, while prediction markets like this one are priced by traders seeking profit through accurate forecasting. Prediction markets can sometimes offer sharper, more efficient pricing because participants have direct financial incentive to correct mispricings. However, sportsbooks may incorporate additional data streams and professional oddsmaking expertise. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus differs and highlight potential value opportunities in either venue.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker system. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—Boston Legacy FC to score first or Orlando Pride to score first—has a price between 0 and 1 that reflects the collective probability estimate. As traders transact, prices adjust in real time based on supply and demand. The current pricing shows Boston Legacy FC favored at 100.0% probability. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures the market continuously incorporates new information, team news, and betting sentiment leading up to kickoff.

This market resolves around Jul 15, 2026, once the match concludes and the first goal is verified. The outcome is determined by which team scores the opening goal during regulation play. Resolution is confirmed once the event result is verifiable from credible public reporting of the match. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while incorrect predictions result in a loss. The timing allows for official confirmation of the goal scorer before final settlement occurs on the platform.

Several factors can shift odds in this market before kickoff and during the match. Team news—injuries, lineup changes, or roster updates—often triggers significant price movement, particularly if key attacking or defensive players are unavailable. Pre-match analysis, expert commentary, and betting syndicate activity can also influence trader sentiment. During the match itself, early possession patterns, shot attempts, and tactical adjustments create real-time momentum shifts. Weather conditions, referee assignments, and venue factors may also be priced in as the event approaches. Social media trends and sharp money flows sometimes signal informed positioning that moves the odds.
