Sportsbooks set lines to balance their risk and ensure profit, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the likelihood of each team winning the third quarter. Generally, discrepancies can arise from differing information sources, biases, or simply a wider range of participants in the prediction market. It's common to see this market incorporate information faster than traditional odds, especially as new information emerges.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell shares representing each possible outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the market's implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares of a particular team, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived chance of them winning the third quarter. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts to new information and trader sentiment, providing a real-time assessment of the game's potential trajectory.
This market resolves around Sep 5, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by which team has the higher score at the end of the third quarter of the Oregon State vs Houston game.
