This set of markets tracks how many points Oregon State and Houston score specifically in the third quarter of their college football game. Each market has a different threshold for the total points scored by both teams during that quarter.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams during the third quarter of the Oregon St. vs Houston college football game scheduled for Sep 5, 2026. A 'Yes' outcome occurs if the combined third-quarter points exceed the specified threshold for each market (ranging from 2.5 to 27.5 points). Only points scored during the third quarter count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA; all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, aiming to balance action on both sides of a bet. This market, however, allows anyone to trade contracts, so the price dynamically adjusts based on collective beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe the sportsbook's initial line is inaccurate, the price on Kalshi will move to reflect that sentiment, potentially offering a different implied probability than traditional sportsbooks.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the third quarter total in the Oregon State vs Houston game. The price of a contract ranges from 0 to 100, representing the probability of the ‘yes’ outcome (the total being over the implied line). On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price fluctuates, reflecting the collective expectation of the market. Higher demand for ‘yes’ contracts will drive the price up, while increased selling pressure will lower it.
This market resolves around Sep 5, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official result of the Oregon State vs Houston game’s third quarter total is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official game statistics as reported by a recognized sports data provider. Contracts predicting the correct outcome will pay out 100, while those predicting the incorrect outcome will be worth 0. The final price of the contracts at resolution will reflect the accuracy of the market’s collective prediction.
Several factors could influence the price of contracts in this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries to key offensive players on either the Oregon State or Houston teams would likely cause significant price movement. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to impact scoring, could also shift predictions. Additionally, any significant shifts in public sentiment, perhaps driven by expert analysis or updated statistical models, could influence trading activity and move the price of contracts on Kalshi.
