This market focuses on determining which team will lead at the end of the third quarter in an upcoming college football game. It provides a snapshot of in-game momentum by isolating performance in a single quarter, allowing participants to speculate on short-term team dominance rather than overall game outcome.
The market resolves based on which team scores more points during the third quarter of the Old Dominion vs Virginia Tech college football game scheduled for September 12, 2026. If Virginia Tech has the highest point total in that quarter, the 'Virginia Tech wins 3rd Quarter' market resolves to Yes. If Old Dominion scores more, the 'Old Dominion wins 3rd Quarter' market resolves to Yes. If both teams score the same number of points, the 'Tie 3rd Quarter' market resolves to Yes. All outcomes consider only points scored during the third quarter itself. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of its original time, the market remains active and resolves based on the actual third-quarter result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi explicitly states it is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain property of their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, while this market allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by betting on both platforms. However, it's important to remember that both represent probabilities as perceived by different groups.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome. The price of a contract reflects the market’s implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy contracts for a particular team, the price increases, and the implied probability rises. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current top outcome, as indicated by the highest implied probability, is a 3rd quarter tie, though trading activity can shift these probabilities at any time.
This market resolves around Sep 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The team leading at the end of the 3rd quarter of the Old Dominion vs Virginia Tech game will be declared the winner of this market. The official game results, as reported by a trusted sports news source, will serve as the basis for determining the winning outcome.
Several factors could influence the trading activity in this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Old Dominion or Virginia Tech teams would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favoring one team's style of play, could also impact the odds. Furthermore, pre-game analysis from sports commentators and updated team statistics released before kickoff could shift trader sentiment and affect the prices in this market.
