This market focuses on determining which team will lead at the end of the third quarter in an upcoming college football game. It provides a way to speculate on the in-game momentum and performance of the teams during a specific segment of play.
The market resolves based on which team scores more points during the third quarter of the designated college football game between Oklahoma and Michigan. If Michigan scores more points in the third quarter, the 'Michigan wins 3rd Quarter' market resolves to Yes. If Oklahoma scores more points in the third quarter, the 'Oklahoma wins 3rd Quarter' market resolves to Yes. If both teams score the same number of points in the third quarter, the 'Tie 3rd Quarter' market resolves to Yes. For all markets, only points scored during the third quarter count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the market remains open and resolves based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the market resolves to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish initial lines based on their own analysis, aiming to balance action on both sides. This market, however, allows individuals to trade based on their own insights, leading to odds that can diverge from traditional sportsbooks as new information emerges or public opinion shifts. It’s common to see prediction markets react more quickly to impactful news or late-breaking developments than traditional betting venues.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome – Oklahoma winning the 3rd quarter, Michigan winning the 3rd quarter, or a tie. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust, providing a dynamic assessment of the potential winner. The current top outcome, according to Kalshi, is a 3rd quarter tie.
This market resolves around Sep 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The winner of the third quarter of the Oklahoma vs Michigan game, as officially recorded by the game’s governing body, will determine the winning contract. Trading will cease prior to the conclusion of the game, and the market will settle based on the official results. The outcome will be determined by which team has the highest score at the end of the third quarter, or if the scores are tied.
Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Oklahoma or Michigan would likely cause significant shifts in the odds. Unexpected changes in weather conditions, particularly if they favor one team's playing style, could also move the market. Furthermore, major adjustments to team strategies or coaching decisions, as reported by credible sports news sources, could impact trader sentiment. Public perception, as reflected in polls and expert analyses, may also play a role in shaping the price of contracts.
