If a player retires, markets that can be unconditionally settled based on completed play resolve accordingly; those that cannot are settled at Fair Market Price as determined by the Exchange.
Polymarket and Kalshi operate under different market designs, fee structures, and user bases, which can create temporary price divergence. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Polymarket may attract longer-term directional bets, while Kalshi often draws traders focused on specific set or game outcomes, leading each platform to weight information differently. Liquidity imbalances, withdrawal delays, or platform-specific incentives can also widen spreads. Arbitrage traders typically exploit these gaps, but on lower-volume events like this one, price discovery may lag, and discrepancies can persist longer than on major markets.
Key catalysts include player injury announcements, recent match results, head-to-head history, and court surface performance data. Betting activity from professional traders or sharp money can also shift odds rapidly. Weather forecasts closer to match day, official lineup confirmations, and any changes to tournament scheduling may trigger repricing. Social media sentiment and mainstream sports coverage can influence retail trader participation. Monitor both players' recent form and any news from the WTA circuit, as unexpected developments—such as a player withdrawing or a coaching change—could move this market significantly in either direction.
