Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance liability and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven purely by trader consensus and real-money risk. Sportsbooks may adjust lines based on sharp action or liability concerns, whereas this market adjusts continuously as new information emerges. For exact-score markets, sportsbooks typically offer limited options, whereas prediction markets allow traders to price every possible outcome, sometimes revealing nuanced probability distributions that traditional betting venues do not display.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker mechanism, where each outcome's odds are determined by the ratio of liquidity allocated to it. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As traders buy and sell shares in specific scorelines, the price of each outcome adjusts in real time to reflect aggregate belief about that result. The top outcome currently reflects the highest conviction among participants. Prices converge toward true probability as more capital flows into the market, and traders can enter or exit positions at any time before the match concludes, locking in gains or cutting losses based on new information.
This market resolves around Jul 18, 2026, once the match between Gotham FC and Seattle Reign FC concludes and the final score is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the exact scoreline at the end of regulation time. All shares corresponding to the correct final score will be worth one dollar, while all other outcomes expire worthless. Resolution is automatic once the result is confirmed, and traders who correctly predicted the scoreline receive their payout immediately.
Team news—injuries to key players, lineup changes, or tactical shifts—can significantly alter scoring expectations and shift odds toward lower or higher totals. Recent form, head-to-head history, and weather conditions on match day all influence how traders reassess the likelihood of specific scorelines. Betting market activity and expert predictions published in the lead-up to kickoff may also trigger repricing as new information reaches traders. Late-breaking roster updates or unexpected absences can cause sharp moves in this market, particularly for outcomes involving star forwards or defensive anchors whose presence directly impacts goal-scoring probability.
