Prediction markets and traditional sportsbooks price outcomes differently because they operate under distinct incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets rely on traders' collective beliefs to set prices. This market reflects what a distributed crowd of bettors thinks will happen in the second half, whereas a sportsbook's line is designed to attract equal action on both sides. Over time, prediction market prices often converge toward real-world probabilities because traders profit by being accurate, creating a different dynamic than the fixed margins sportsbooks maintain.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader activity into real-time odds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Shares representing each outcome trade continuously, and the price of each share reflects the crowd's current belief about the likelihood of that result. As more traders buy or sell shares, the price adjusts automatically. You can enter or exit your position at any time before the market closes, and your entry price depends on the order flow and depth available at that moment.
This market resolves around Aug 1, 2026, once the second half of the match concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals in the second half alone. No draws are possible in this binary market—one team must win the second half outright. Resolution happens automatically once the final whistle sounds and official sources confirm the score.
Several factors can shift odds before the match begins and during the first half. Team news—injuries, lineup changes, or tactical announcements—often triggers repricing as traders adjust their expectations. Weather conditions, pitch quality, and referee assignments can also influence confidence in either side's second-half performance. Once the match starts, first-half momentum, goals scored, and cards issued will shape how traders view the second-half battle. Late-breaking injury updates or unexpected tactical shifts during halftime can create sharp moves in this market as new information arrives.
