This event tracks the outcome of an NHL hockey game between two New York teams. The result depends solely on which team wins the match. If neither team wins—meaning the game ends in a tie—the outcome is considered a draw.
The event resolves based on the official result of the NHL game between New York R and New York I scheduled for September 25, 2026. If New York I wins, its corresponding market resolves to Yes; if New York R wins, its market resolves to Yes. In the event of a tie, all markets resolve at 50c. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the market remains open and resolves based on the final result. If the game is cancelled or does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price.
Prediction market odds often reflect a different kind of information than sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks typically set lines based on statistical models and public perception, while this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, allowing traders to incorporate a wider range of factors, including qualitative insights and potentially insider information. It's common to see discrepancies between the two, as each represents a distinct form of forecasting. Polls and analysts also frequently offer different perspectives on the likely winner of the New York mayoral race, and this market provides another data point for comparison.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes in the New York mayoral race. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. As more traders buy a contract, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts to new information and changing sentiment, offering a fluid and responsive assessment of the race's trajectory. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable trades are rewarded.
This market resolves around Sep 26, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official results declared by election authorities for the New York mayoral race. The contract representing the winning candidate will pay out, while those representing losing candidates will expire worthless. Traders should monitor official sources for the final results, as these will determine the payout structure for this market. The market’s resolution is independent of polls or pre-election predictions.
Several signals or events could significantly move this market before its resolution. Major endorsements from influential figures, significant fundraising announcements, and unexpected developments in the candidates’ campaigns could all impact trader sentiment. Debates and public appearances are also key catalysts, as they provide opportunities for candidates to sway public opinion. Polling data releases, while not directly reflected in the market, can influence trader behavior. Any unforeseen events, such as scandals or major policy shifts, could also lead to substantial price fluctuations in this market.
