Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the Mets-Braves first 5 innings market displays real-time odds on which team will lead after the first five innings of play. Traders can monitor the current price, historical price movements, and trading volume as the event approaches. The interface shows the probability implied by market participants, updated continuously as new trades execute. This market reflects live sentiment and analytical expectations about early-game performance, allowing you to track how confidence shifts as game time nears and new information emerges.

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they serve different purposes and audiences. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and manage risk, while prediction markets aggregate trader beliefs through continuous price discovery. This market's odds reflect what thousands of independent participants believe will happen, rather than a bookmaker's calculated spread. Prediction markets typically incorporate real-time information faster and can reveal consensus views that differ meaningfully from traditional betting lines, making them useful for comparing against published sportsbook odds on the same matchup.

On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker and order-book mechanism, where each outcome trades as a separate contract. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each contract reflects the collective probability assigned by active traders, ranging from near-zero to near-100. As traders buy or sell based on their forecasts, prices adjust in real time. Higher prices indicate stronger consensus that an outcome will occur, while lower prices suggest skepticism. This continuous repricing ensures the market reflects the latest information and trader conviction about which team will lead after five innings.

This market resolves around Jul 3, 2026, once the game has been played and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the score at the end of the fifth inning to identify which team is ahead. If the teams are tied after five innings, the market will reflect that result accordingly. Resolution occurs shortly after the game concludes and official scoring is confirmed, allowing traders to settle their positions based on the verified early-game result.

Several factors can shift odds before the game begins. Injury announcements, lineup changes, or weather updates affecting playing conditions may alter trader expectations. Starting pitcher performance history, recent team form, and head-to-head matchup trends influence confidence in early-inning outcomes. Breaking news about player availability or unexpected roster moves can trigger rapid repricing. As game time approaches, final betting action and sharp money often move the market noticeably. Once play begins, early-inning performance—runs scored, pitcher effectiveness, and momentum—will drive real-time adjustments until the fifth inning concludes and the market settles.
