Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds, like those found in this market, often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while prediction markets allow anyone to express their beliefs, leading to more fluid price discovery. This can result in prediction market prices being more accurate, particularly when there's significant public information available. However, sportsbooks typically offer more variety in bet types than available in this market.

Kalshi and Predict can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices on Kalshi and Predict can diverge due to several factors. Each platform attracts a different user base with varying levels of expertise and information. Trading volume also plays a role; a larger volume on one platform can lead to more efficient price discovery. Additionally, the specific mechanisms for trading and order execution differ between Kalshi and Predict, which can influence price movements. These differences can create opportunities for arbitrage, as traders attempt to profit from price discrepancies across the two venues.

Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or starting pitcher changes for either the Yankees or the Mets would likely cause price fluctuations. Weather conditions at the game location could also influence the market, particularly if there's a risk of rain delays or strong winds. Furthermore, late-breaking news about team morale or strategic adjustments could shift trader sentiment. Monitoring these signals and analyzing their potential impact will be crucial for anyone looking to trade in this market.
