These markets focus on predicting the outcome of the fourth quarter in a college football game between NC State and Vanderbilt. Each market specifies a different point spread threshold that must be exceeded by the winning team during that quarter for the bet to succeed.
The markets resolve based on the point differential in the fourth quarter (excluding overtime) of the NC State vs Vanderbilt college football game scheduled for September 19, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold: if Vanderbilt wins the fourth quarter by more than 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 6.5, 7.5, or 10.5 points, or if NC State wins by more than 2.5, 3.5, 6.5, 7.5, or 10.5 points, the respective market resolves to Yes. Only points scored during the fourth quarter count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the markets resolve to a fair price.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often incorporating information and analysis that may not be immediately reflected in traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market is driven by the collective predictions of traders. It’s common to see differences emerge as new information becomes available or as public opinion shifts, though both aim to accurately forecast the outcome. Discrepancies can present opportunities for arbitrage, where traders attempt to profit from the difference in pricing.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different point spreads for the 4th quarter. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that spread occurring, as perceived by the market participants. As more traders buy contracts for a particular spread, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is dynamically adjusted based on supply and demand, providing a real-time assessment of expectations for the game’s final quarter.
This market resolves around Sep 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the final point spread in the 4th quarter of the NC State vs Vanderbilt game will be used to determine which contracts pay out. The market will settle based on the official result reported by sports data providers, ensuring an objective and verifiable outcome. Traders holding contracts on the correct spread will receive a payout, while those holding contracts on incorrect spreads will not.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the NC State or Vanderbilt teams would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if severe weather is expected, could also impact the market. Additionally, in-game performance during the first three quarters, and any shifts in public perception or betting trends, could all contribute to price fluctuations. Unexpected coaching decisions or strategic adjustments could also play a role in shaping market expectations.
