Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance liability and profit, while prediction markets aggregate the collective judgment of traders risking real capital. For this market, prediction market prices may lead or lag sportsbook lines depending on which venue processes new information faster. Neither is inherently more accurate, but comparing both can reveal where consensus is strongest or where outlier views persist.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into real-time probabilities. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome's price reflects the cumulative bets placed on it, so as more capital flows toward a particular player, their odds improve. Traders profit by correctly predicting which candidate will win the award, and prices adjust continuously as new information emerges and sentiment shifts.
Outstanding individual performances during finals matches are the primary catalyst for price swings. Standout kills, objective control, and clutch plays by any candidate can shift trader conviction instantly. Team victories and defeats also matter, since MVP voters typically favor players on winning squads. Injury announcements, roster changes, or commentary from analysts and casters can reshape expectations. As the finals progress, cumulative statistics and narrative momentum around particular players will drive the most significant repricing of odds.
