Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on statistical models and their own risk assessment, while this market allows anyone to express their view. If prediction market odds diverge significantly from sportsbook odds, it may indicate disagreement about the true probability of an outcome. It’s important to note that sportsbooks may also have different incentives and margins than traders on Polymarket.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the evolving consensus. Higher volume generally indicates greater confidence in the market's price discovery process, and currently, the volume is $24,570.
