This set of markets tracks the point differential in a college football game between Montana and Oregon State. Each market represents a different threshold for how many points the winning team must win by for the market to resolve positively. The outcomes depend entirely on the final score of the game.
All markets resolve based on the official final point differential of the Montana vs Oregon State college football game scheduled for September 19, 2026. If Oregon State wins by exceeding the specified point margin listed in the market title, that market resolves to Yes; if Montana wins by exceeding its listed margin, that market also resolves to Yes. If neither team meets their respective threshold, the market resolves to No. For games postponed but starting within 48 hours of the original time, markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring impartial treatment for all participants regardless of the specific point differential thresholds.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can sometimes differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, while this market is driven purely by traders expressing their beliefs about the event's outcome. If there’s a significant discrepancy, it might indicate that the market believes a sportsbook has mispriced the probability of a particular result. It's common to see the two converge as the event approaches and more information becomes available.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts. The price of a contract represents the probability of a specific outcome – in this case, whether the Montana vs Oregon State spread will settle above or below the listed value. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders’ actions directly influence the price, and the market reflects their collective assessment of the likelihood of each outcome. As more traders participate, the price tends to become more efficient and accurate.
This market resolves around Sep 20, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final spread will be determined by official game statistics, and this market will pay out to those who correctly predicted whether the actual spread would be above or below the value represented by their contracts. The resolution will be based on the official result reported by the governing body of college football, ensuring a transparent and verifiable outcome for all participants.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any significant news regarding injuries to key players on either the Montana or Oregon State teams would likely cause movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest adverse conditions impacting the game, could also shift the odds. Furthermore, late-breaking news about team morale, coaching decisions, or even unexpected changes in public perception could all contribute to fluctuations in the market price as traders adjust their assessments of the likely outcome.
