Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often diverging from initial sportsbook lines as new information becomes available. Sportsbooks set initial odds based on their own analysis, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individuals. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, they can express that view by trading shares, causing the prediction market odds to shift. It’s common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast probabilities, especially closer to the event date, as they incorporate a broader range of perspectives than traditional oddsmakers.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes of the MODUS Super Series darts match. The price of each share directly reflects the market’s implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s efficiency is driven by the incentive for traders to accurately assess probabilities and profit from discrepancies between their beliefs and the market price. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of its participants.
