Frequently asked questions

Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish initial lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. If there's a significant discrepancy between prediction market probabilities and sportsbook odds, it could indicate that the crowd believes the sportsbook is mispricing the event. It's important to remember that both represent probabilities, but are derived through different mechanisms.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand, providing a real-time assessment of the perceived likelihood of each player winning the match. This creates a fluid and responsive pricing system driven entirely by user activity.

This market resolves around Sep 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the MODUS Super Series match between John O’Shea and Jamai van den Herik. The platform will rely on widely available and trusted sources to determine the winner and settle the market accordingly. Traders should monitor official announcements and results to understand how the market will be resolved. The outcome will be determined by the official result, regardless of pre-match predictions.

Several factors could influence the trading activity in this market. Any news regarding player form, potential injuries, or changes in playing conditions could shift trader sentiment. Unexpected announcements about strategy or team composition could also have an impact. Public opinion, as reflected in polls or expert analysis, may also play a role, although the market is ultimately driven by trading activity on Polymarket. Significant shifts in volume or the emergence of large trades could also indicate changing expectations and cause the odds to move considerably before Sep 17, 2026.
