Prediction market odds often reflect a different kind of wisdom than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the collective intelligence of traders who are incentivized to accurately forecast the outcome. Often, you’ll find that prediction markets are more accurate than traditional polls or analyst predictions, as traders have ‘skin in the game’. However, sportsbooks may offer different types of wagers not available in this market, and their odds can be influenced by promotional offers or public betting patterns.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a particular outcome. As more shares are purchased for a specific outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived likelihood. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective assessment of the event's potential results, driven by informed traders.
