Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of forecasters, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven purely by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially when public perception differs from expert analysis. Examining these differences can be insightful, as prediction markets sometimes anticipate outcomes more accurately than conventional betting venues, though past performance isn’t indicative of future results.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome.
