Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different trader bases and incentive structures. On Polymarket, prices are set by traders wagering real capital on outcomes, creating a crowdsourced probability estimate. Sportsbooks, by contrast, adjust lines to balance their book and lock in profit margins. For this market, prediction market odds may react faster to roster changes, player form, or injury news, while sportsbooks may lag slightly or price in wider margins. Comparing the two can reveal where smart money sees value relative to traditional betting lines.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into real-time probability quotes for each finalist candidate. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Prices move continuously as traders adjust positions, with each outcome's price reflecting the collective belief in that player's likelihood of reaching the finals. The market uses a standard order-book mechanism where you can place limit or market orders to enter or exit positions. Spreads tighten as volume increases, rewarding active traders with better execution on larger positions.
