Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and manage risk, while this market is priced by traders wagering real capital on their beliefs about the outcome. Prediction markets typically incorporate a wider range of public information and can respond faster to breaking news or injury updates. However, sportsbooks benefit from professional oddsmakers and sharp bettors, so neither venue consistently outpredicts the other. Comparing both sources helps traders identify value and refine their edge.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current odds reflect the ratio of shares outstanding and the depth of liquidity at each price level. As traders place orders, the price adjusts algorithmically to balance supply and demand. Higher prices indicate stronger collective confidence in that outcome, while lower prices suggest skepticism. Traders can enter or exit positions at any time before resolution, and the continuous repricing mechanism ensures the market remains responsive to new information.

This market resolves around Jul 26, 2026, once the second half of the match concludes and the final result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals in the second half only; the first-half score is irrelevant. If both teams score an equal number of goals in the second half, the market resolves to a draw. Resolution occurs shortly after the match ends, pending confirmation from official MLS records and broadcast sources.

Key catalysts include team news such as injury announcements, lineup changes, or tactical adjustments revealed before kickoff. Early match momentum—goals, near-misses, or red cards in the first half—often shifts second-half expectations significantly. Weather conditions, fatigue levels, and substitution patterns as the match progresses all influence trader positioning. Betting syndicates and sharp money flowing into one outcome can trigger rapid repricing. Social media sentiment, expert commentary, and live broadcast analysis may also sway retail traders. Any unexpected development during the first half typically generates the largest price swings in this market.
