Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts traders with different risk tolerances, information sets, and trading strategies. Kalshi and Polymarket may have varying liquidity pools, fee structures, and user demographics, all of which influence how prices settle. Additionally, the two platforms may interpret or weight early-game catalysts—such as starting pitcher matchups or recent team performance—differently. Arbitrage opportunities between the platforms can persist if transaction costs or withdrawal friction prevent traders from instantly equalizing prices. Monitoring both venues helps you identify where consensus is strongest and where outlier pricing may signal untapped value.
Several factors can shift trader positioning before the game begins. Injury announcements affecting either team's starting pitcher or key early-lineup players will likely trigger repricing. Weather forecasts—wind speed, temperature, and humidity—influence early-inning scoring potential and can sway the odds. Recent performance trends, bullpen availability, and any last-minute lineup changes announced closer to game time will draw trader attention. Breaking news about team morale, travel delays, or unexpected roster moves can also move this market. As game time approaches, traders will refine their edge based on the latest available information.
