Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and manage risk, while prediction markets aggregate beliefs from traders who profit or lose based on accuracy. This market's odds may differ from what you see at a sportsbook, since prediction traders are directly exposed to the outcome, creating a different price discovery mechanism. Comparing the two can reveal where one venue perceives edge relative to the other.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through continuous order-book trading, with each outcome represented as a separate contract. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current market price reflects the most recent trades and pending buy or sell orders, creating a dynamic probability estimate. Liquidity and trading volume influence how easily prices move, and wider spreads between bid and ask prices indicate lower liquidity. As game time approaches, new information and shifting sentiment can cause rapid repricing of the outcome.
This market resolves around Jul 1, 2026, once the game concludes and the first five innings are complete. The outcome is determined by which team holds the lead after exactly five innings of play, verified against credible public sources such as official MLB records or major sports data providers. No extra innings or tie-breaking rules apply; the market simply reflects the score at the end of the fifth inning. Resolution typically occurs within hours of game completion.
Injury announcements, lineup changes, and starting pitcher confirmations can significantly shift odds before the game begins. Weather conditions, recent team performance trends, and head-to-head matchup history also influence trader positioning. Once play starts, early game developments—such as quick runs, pitching changes, or defensive plays—may prompt rapid repricing as traders update their probability estimates. Breaking news about player availability or unexpected roster moves can trigger sharp moves in either direction.
