Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and fee structures. Polymarket may draw sophisticated arbitrage traders who tighten spreads, while Kalshi might see more casual participants or different time-zone activity. Contract design also varies—one platform may emphasize Houston's outright lead, the other Minnesota's margin-of-victory threshold—creating genuine outcome divergence rather than pure mispricing. Monitoring both venues helps identify which framing resonates more with each community.
Lineup announcements, injury reports, and bullpen availability updates typically shift odds before first pitch. Weather conditions—wind direction, temperature, humidity—affect early-game scoring pace and can swing five-inning outcomes significantly. Starting pitcher form, recent offensive trends, and head-to-head matchup history also drive trader repositioning. Real-time game flow, including early runs or defensive plays, will cause sharp repricing in the final minutes before the game starts and during the first inning itself.
