PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Polymarket uses a unified three-outcome categorical resolution (Brewers, Cardinals, Draw), while Kalshi presents three separate Yes/No markets. The logical intent appears aligned, but the structural presentation and payout mechanics differ significantly between platforms.Hero tip: Both platforms resolve on the same underlying event (first 5 innings score), but verify with Kalshi that their three markets are mutually exclusive and that a tie resolves exactly one of the three to Yes. On Polymarket, the Draw outcome is explicit and unambiguous. Align your position understanding with the platform's actual settlement mechanics before committing capital.

Critical divergence points:

  • Polymarket: Categorical three-outcome market: resolves to Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, or Draw based on who is ahead (or tied) after 5 innings. Resolution source is official MLB final statistics, with credible reporting consensus as fallback if stats unavailable within 24 hours. Postponed games remain open until the 5th inning is completed; canceled games with no makeup resolve 50-50.
  • Kalshi: Three separate Yes/No markets presented as independent propositions: Milwaukee wins first 5 innings (Yes/No), St. Louis wins first 5 innings (Yes/No), and Milwaukee and St. Louis tie in first 5 innings (Yes/No). No explicit fallback source or postponement/cancellation rules provided in the source data.
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds on this matchup reflect crowdsourced trader sentiment rather than sportsbook risk management. Sportsbooks adjust lines to balance action and lock in margin; prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi price based on collective belief about the five-inning outcome. Prediction markets often move faster on new information—injury reports, weather, or bullpen news—because traders profit directly from accuracy. Comparing this market's implied probabilities to your sportsbook's moneyline or run-line odds can reveal value gaps, especially in niche bets like first-five-inning winners where sportsbook liquidity may be thinner.

Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, regulatory frameworks, and liquidity depths. Polymarket's broader user base and higher trading volume can create tighter, more efficient pricing, while Kalshi's smaller but specialized audience may price in different risk premiums or have slower information flow. Platform-specific fees, withdrawal policies, and market design also influence how traders value positions. These structural differences mean the same game outcome can trade at meaningfully different odds across venues, creating arbitrage opportunities for sharp bettors monitoring both simultaneously.

Lineup announcements, starting pitcher confirmations, and bullpen availability updates typically drive early price movement in this market. Weather conditions at game time—wind direction, temperature, humidity—can favor hitters or pitchers and shift five-inning scoring expectations. Injury reports on key position players or recent offensive form also influence trader positioning. Late-breaking news on umpire assignments or field conditions may trigger volatility. As game time approaches, live betting activity and sharp money entering either side can accelerate repricing, especially if one team is perceived as undervalued relative to sportsbook consensus.
