Polymarket and Predict can show different prices on the same game for several reasons. Polymarket and Predict can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity depths, and fee structures, which naturally create pricing gaps. Arbitrage traders typically exploit these spreads, but temporary misalignments persist due to geographic restrictions, platform-specific user bases, and varying settlement confidence. Monitoring both platforms helps you spot when one is lagging behind new information or when liquidity imbalances create tactical opportunities.
Key catalysts include injury announcements to star players, bullpen availability, recent team form, and weather conditions on game day. Lineup changes, manager decisions, or unexpected roster moves can shift trader sentiment significantly. Breaking news about player health or late-breaking roster updates often triggers sharp repricing minutes before first pitch. Additionally, if either team's playoff positioning becomes mathematically eliminated or clinched, traders may adjust their confidence in competitive intensity, moving prices in either direction.
