Frequently asked questions

On Kalshi, the dashboard for the Miami vs St. Louis first 5 innings market displays real-time pricing, historical price movements, and current trading volume. This market allows traders to speculate on outcomes specific to the opening five innings of the matchup, rather than the full nine-inning result. The interface shows bid-ask spreads, recent trade activity, and aggregate liquidity, helping participants monitor sentiment shifts as game time approaches. Live updates reflect how market participants are pricing the probability of different first-inning scenarios.

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets aggregate the beliefs of traders risking real capital. This market may show different implied probabilities than traditional sportsbooks, particularly as new information emerges closer to game time. Comparing the two can reveal where professional bettors and casual traders disagree on first-inning outcomes.

On Kalshi, this market is priced through continuous order-book trading, where buyers and sellers submit bids and offers that determine the real-time contract value. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price reflects the collective assessment of all active traders, with each contract representing a claim on a specific first-inning outcome. As new developments occur—weather updates, lineup announcements, or injury reports—traders adjust their positions, causing the price to move. Liquidity and trading volume influence how quickly prices respond to new information.

This market resolves around Jun 27, 2026, once the first five innings of the game are complete and the outcome is verifiable from credible public sources. The resolution hinges on the specific first-inning scenario the contract covers—whether that involves run totals, which team scores first, or another defined event. Official box scores and game records serve as the basis for determining the winner. Traders should monitor the event schedule to ensure they understand the exact timing and outcome criteria before the market closes.

Several catalysts can shift prices significantly before this market settles. Lineup announcements, starting pitcher confirmations, and injury updates to key players will influence trader expectations for first-inning performance. Weather conditions—wind speed, temperature, and humidity—affect ball carry and scoring likelihood. Recent team form, head-to-head matchup history, and bullpen availability also matter. As game time nears, any breaking news about player availability or last-minute roster changes can trigger sharp repricing. Trading volume typically spikes in the final hours before the first pitch.
