Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Platform differences in liquidity, user base composition, and fee structures naturally create price gaps. Polymarket may attract institutional traders focused on specific outcomes, while Kalshi draws a different demographic with distinct risk appetites. Timing lags between platforms, regional access restrictions, and varying promotional incentives also contribute to divergence. Monitoring both simultaneously helps you identify temporary mispricings and understand where conviction is strongest across the prediction market ecosystem.
Key catalysts include roster announcements, starting pitcher confirmations, weather conditions at game time, and any late-breaking injury news affecting star players. Line movement at major sportsbooks often precedes prediction market shifts, so monitoring those changes can give you an edge. Trading volume spikes typically occur in the final hours before first pitch as casual bettors enter. Unexpected team statements, umpire assignments, or historical head-to-head trends can also trigger repricing as new information reaches traders.
