Polymarket and Kalshi can show different prices on the same event for several reasons. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts distinct trader demographics, liquidity pools, and fee structures, which influence how quickly prices converge. Polymarket operates globally with lower barriers to entry, while Kalshi is US-regulated and may appeal to different risk profiles. Timing lags between platforms, varying order-book depth, and platform-specific rules around position limits can also create temporary spreads. These differences typically narrow as the event approaches and arbitrage traders exploit mispricings.
Several catalysts can shift odds before resolution. Injury announcements, roster changes, or coaching decisions affecting either team will likely trigger repricing. Recent performance, head-to-head records, and momentum heading into the matchup all influence trader positioning. Weather conditions, venue factors, and playoff implications may also matter depending on the competition context. Media coverage, expert analysis, and betting syndicates entering the market can accelerate price moves. Watch for any breaking news or team updates that alter perceived competitive balance.
