This market tracks the outcome of the first set in the 2026 Wimbledon Women's Singles Semifinal between Marta Kostyuk and Linda Noskova on July 9. The winner of set 1 will be determined by standard professional tennis scoring rules.
The market resolves based on which player wins set 1 in the professional tennis match between Marta Kostyuk and Linda Noskova at the 2026 Wimbledon Women's Singles Semifinal. If the match does not occur before play begins due to injury, walkover, forfeiture, or cancellation, the market resolves to fair price. If the match is postponed or delayed, the market remains open until the rescheduled match concludes within two weeks. If a player retires, markets that can be unconditionally settled based on completed play resolve accordingly; those that cannot be settled resolve to Fair Market Price at the Exchange's discretion.
Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different pricing mechanisms and risk models. Sportsbooks set lines to balance liability and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are priced by traders responding to new information in real time. Sportsbook odds may lag behind breaking news or player updates, whereas this market can adjust more quickly as participants trade on fresh developments. Comparing the two can reveal whether the broader betting public or prediction market traders are more bullish on a particular outcome.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share reflects the collective assessment of traders' probability estimates, with bids and asks converging toward an equilibrium. As new information emerges—such as player form, court conditions, or injury updates—traders adjust their positions, moving the price up or down. This dynamic pricing ensures the market continuously incorporates available data and trader conviction.
This market resolves around Jul 9, 2026, once the first set of the Kostyuk vs Noskova match concludes and the result is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which player wins the opening set according to official tournament records or reputable sports data providers. Early resolution may occur if the match is abandoned or if one player retires before the set concludes, in which case the market settles based on the verified status at that time.
Several factors could shift odds before resolution. Player injury reports or last-minute withdrawals would trigger sharp repricing. Pre-match conditions—court surface, weather, recent form, and head-to-head history—influence trader positioning as the event approaches. During the set itself, momentum swings, break-point conversions, and service performance will drive real-time trading activity. Unexpected lineup changes or official announcements about court conditions could also prompt significant price movement. Traders continuously reassess probabilities based on these unfolding developments.
