PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Three markets with overlapping scope but different forfeit/walkover handling rules. Limitless accepts any official winner declaration; Polymarket Match Completion rejects all forfeits; Polymarket Advancement splits on timing (pre-match walkover = 50-50, mid-match retirement = advancing player).Hero tip: Monitor pre-match player status closely. A pre-match walkover triggers three different outcomes across platforms (Limitless: advancing player wins; Polymarket Completion: No; Polymarket Advancement: 50-50). Mid-match retirement is more consistent (Limitless and Polymarket Advancement both favor advancing player, but Polymarket Completion still No). Consider arbitrage or hedge positions if walkover risk is material.

Critical divergence points:

  • Limitless: Winner-take-all market. Any official winner declaration (normal play, walkover, retirement, default, disqualification) resolves to that player. No tie or cancellation outcomes. Key Quote: 'a player officially declared the winner of the match will be considered to have defeated the opponent, including in cases of walkover, retirement, withdrawal, default, or disqualification.'
  • Polymarket (Match Completion): Binary completion market. Resolves Yes only if all games and sets are played to completion through normal play. Resolves No for any forfeit (walkover, retirement), cancellation, tie, or delay beyond 7 days. Key Quote: 'If a forfeit of any kind occurs, including but not limited to a walkover or retirement, this market will resolve to No.'
  • Polymarket (Advancement): Advancement market with timing-dependent forfeit logic. Pre-match walkover = 50-50. Mid-match retirement/default/disqualification = advancing player wins. Normal play or cancellation/tie/7+ day delay = 50-50. Key Quote: 'If the match ends in a walkover (player withdraws before the start and the other advances automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50. If the match begins but is not completed, and one player advances due to the opponent's retirement, default, or disqualification, this market will resolve to the player who advances.'

Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets and sportsbooks price events differently because they operate under distinct incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and manage risk, often incorporating a built-in margin. Prediction markets, by contrast, rely on traders' collective judgment and financial stake to discover prices. This market's odds reflect what participants are willing to risk, not a bookmaker's profit target. Comparing the two can reveal mispricings: if sportsbook odds diverge significantly from this market, it may signal an opportunity or reflect differences in how each venue weights available information.
