This market refers to the combination of the pre-match coin toss and the final match result for the cricket match between Washington Freedom and Seattle Orcas scheduled for 2026-06-25 in Major League Cricket. This market resolves according to (1) the official toss result and (2) the finalized match result as published by https://www.espncricinfo.com/. The outcome corresponding to Washington Freedom will be considered correct if Washington Freedom is officially recorded as winning both the toss and the match. The outcome corresponding to Seattle Orcas will be considered correct if Seattle Orcas is officially recorded as winning both the toss and the match. In all other cases - including where the toss and match winners differ, or where no match winner is recorded - the market will resolve to "Draw". DLS/DRS adjustments, over-rate penalties, forfeit/walkover, Super Over, or any other on-field ruling that leads the competition to declare a match winner are treated as ordinary wins. If the match ends tied and the playing conditions provide an on-field tiebreak (e.g., Super Over), the tiebreak winner will be considered the match winner for this market. If the match ends tied with no tiebreak used or available, no team will be considered to have won the match and the market will resolve to "Draw". If the match is permanently canceled, abandoned, or otherwise completed without an official match winner being declared, the market will resolve to "Draw". If the match is postponed or rescheduled, the market remains open until the listed fixture is completed and will then resolve as described above.

Prediction markets and sportsbooks price events differently because they serve distinct purposes. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and manage risk, often incorporating a margin. Prediction markets like this one reflect the aggregated beliefs of many independent traders with real money at stake, which can reveal genuine probability estimates. This market's odds may diverge from traditional sportsbook lines, especially as new information emerges or trader conviction shifts. Comparing the two can highlight where public perception and market-derived probabilities align or diverge.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker mechanism, where buying or selling shares moves the odds in real time. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—Washington Freedom or Seattle Orcas winning the toss—has a price between 0 and 1, reflecting the probability traders assign to it. As more capital flows into one side, that outcome's price rises and the opposing outcome falls. This continuous repricing ensures the market remains liquid and responsive to new information or changing sentiment throughout the trading period.
This market resolves around Jul 2, 2026, once the toss outcome from the Washington Freedom vs Seattle Orcas match is confirmed. The result will be verified against credible public sources reporting the official match toss. Traders who backed the correct team will receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. The resolution hinges solely on which team wins the coin flip at the start of play, independent of the match result itself.
Several factors may shift trader positioning before the match begins. Weather conditions, pitch reports, or team news could influence which captain wins the toss if either side gains a perceived advantage in calling. Late roster changes or injury updates might alter strategic thinking about toss importance. Media commentary or expert predictions can sway sentiment. Additionally, large trades or accumulating volume on one side may signal informed positioning, prompting other traders to adjust their bets. Closer to game time, final team lineups and on-field conditions often trigger the most significant repricing.
