Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance betting action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately assess probabilities. If there’s a significant difference, it could indicate that prediction market participants believe they have information that isn’t yet reflected in sportsbook lines, or that the sportsbook’s initial assessment was inaccurate. It's worth comparing the two to see if discrepancies exist and why.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the aggregated predictions of all traders on Polymarket, and is influenced by any new information or developments related to the players or the match itself.

Furthermore, large trading volume from informed participants could signal a change in expectations, leading to price movements. Monitoring these signals can help you understand how the market is reacting to new information and potentially identify trading opportunities.
