Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately forecast the outcome. As more information becomes available and traders exchange views, the odds on Polymarket may converge with, diverge from, or even anticipate changes in sportsbook odds. It's common to see prediction markets outperform traditional bookmakers, especially as the event approaches.
