Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of forecasters, and can sometimes differ from those offered by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market relies on individuals expressing their true beliefs about the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamics of supply and demand within the prediction market. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster to incorporate new information than traditional betting venues, potentially offering a more accurate assessment of the event’s probability.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the M25 Sintra tennis match. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic process ensures that the market price constantly adapts to new information and the evolving opinions of participants.
