Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set initial lines to balance betting action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying interpretations of the players' form. If significant differences exist, it may present opportunities for arbitrage, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both platforms.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each player winning. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular player, the price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or a central authority setting the odds.

Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in playing conditions, or updates on their recent performance could all impact trader sentiment. Unexpected upsets in other matches within the tournament might also cause traders to reassess their predictions. Furthermore, large volume trades from informed participants could quickly move the market, especially if they signal a change in perceived probabilities.
