Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, being driven by collective prediction, tends to be more efficient and can reflect the true probabilities as perceived by a diverse group of traders. However, discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying levels of engagement between the two types of bettors. It’s useful to compare both to form a well-rounded view.
