Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market aggregates the opinions of many individual traders. If a significant number of people believe a particular outcome is more likely than a sportsbook suggests, the prediction market odds will adjust accordingly. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the collective intelligence of the crowd. Comparing the two can provide a broader perspective on the potential outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price reflects the aggregate sentiment of all participants, creating a dynamic and responsive indicator of expectations for the Comino vs Chepelev match. This allows traders to express their views and profit if their predictions are accurate.
